PRO WRESTLING WARRIORS
"PWW 1: OMEGA VS. ROLLINS" PRESS CONFERENCE"
Date: February 9, 2022
Location: Long Island Marriott, Uniondale, New York
Time: 4:00 pm EST
The voice of Pro Wrestling Warriors, Jimmy Smith, stands on a stage in the main conference room of the Long Island Marriott. We are minutes away from the Nassau Coliseum, where the historic first ever event produced by PWW will take place on Saturday night, streaming live on Paramount Plus. Smith welcomes the pro wrestling press, as we have representatives from all major outlets that cover the sport in attendance, from the bigger networks to the notable websites and video blogs that populate the space that is the pro wrestling universe digitally.
Smith then welcomes out the newly announced Executive Director of Pro Wrestling Warriors, Paul Heyman, who makes his way to the front podium as the media give him a polite round of applause.
Paul proceeds to thank everyone for attending this afternoon. He says that he looks forward to hearing their questions and hearing what the competitors have to say, but now, he asks them to allow him to introduce the stars of the show... THE PRO WRESTLING WARRIORS THEMSELVES!
Out come eight of the wrestlers who will be competing at the show, as we see Kenny Omega, Seth Rollins, Bryan Danielson, Timothy Thatcher, Buddy Matthews, Will Ospreay, Matt Riddle, and Shelton Benjamin all make their way out and sit at tables placed on each side of the podium.
The conference lasts for a little over an hour, as the wrestlers and Paul Heyman field questions from the press. Here are some of the highlights.
From Pro Wrestling Torch to Kenny Omega: "Kenny, you and Seth Rollins have had a noted war of words in the past about who the better wrestler is. You have both said you would like to face one another in the ring, and now you finally have the opportunity. You clearly think you are the better wrestler-"
Kenny: "I am not just a better wrestler than Seth Rollins, but I am the best wrestler sitting on this stage and, in fact, the entire world, but proceed."
Seth: "Wow!"
"Okay, then... is there anything you've learned about Seth Rollins in preparation for this match that maybe you didn't know before as you two were trading barbs online?"
Kenny: "Listen... Seth is a very gifted athlete. He has beaten some of the best- some of the absolute best this business has to offer. And he has been patted on the back continually for his efforts, while never really doing anything truly ground breaking. He believes his own hype, though, and that will be his downfall when he steps into the ring with 'The Cleaner'. I have been to the biggest stages and I too have faced some of the best wrestlers around the world... and I have beaten every one of them. Seth is going to be no different, it's a cold, hard fact. I am going to wear him out and take him to places he's never been before. Not by AJ Styles or Finn Balor or even Brock Lesnar. I will weaponize pace and destroy Seth freakin' Rollins before I put him down to rest in the middle of the ring for the long one... two... three."
Seth: "I've heard enough of this shit! Kenny, you want to talk about believing hype? Man, who do you think you are? I mean, seriously, I'm asking, because outside of the Nerdiverse that's covering this thing right here, there isn't a damn person who gives a crap about Kenny Omega, and you're just too dumb to realize it! Seth freakin' Rollins is the name sellin' the freakin' tickets, believe that, as my old partner used to say! You're the one who's been taking the rub and tugs from the media over there in Japan and thinking that means something, but that isn't going to mean shit when I stomp your head into the mat and you wake in the hospital trying to figure out what day it is!"
We then get an interjection from Will Ospreay.
Will: "You two slags can talk all you want, but you know neither one of you bloody cunts can hold a candle to Will Ospreay! That's a fact! Rollins, you wanker, I got your old lap dog to deal with on Saturday night, but you an' I got a little score to settle ourselves! You've been ridin' high and mighty for a long damn time, but you ain't fuckin' gonna dodge me any longer, hidin' behind some bullshit contract when if you were a man with some fuckin' scruples, you might actually show up to a real fight! Whether you stomp in Kenny's pretty little curls or not, I'm going take your head clean off sooner or later! The uncrowned champion sits right here, ladies and gentlemen, don't let these cunts try to fool ya!"
Kenny turns to Will to his right at his table.
Kenny: "Will, I know why you're singling out Seth over there, because you know you're never going to beat me and you're always going to be the bargain brand version of Kenny Omega. You can quit the tough guy act, because I'm not buying it and neither is anybody else."
Will: "You can come try me if you want to see if it's an act, Kenny. I didn't address you because I don't want to be caught punchin' down on a pussy like you, who knows damn well you ran from Japan so you didn't have to face me."
Paul Heyman intervenes.
Paul: "GENTLEMEN, GENTLEMEN! If you will please show some decorum, we need to proceed with the questions from our lovely guests! So shut up! Alright, who's next..."
The next question comes from 411Mania for Matt Riddle: "Matt, you are facing a man many consider to be a wrestling legend on Saturday in Shelton Benjamin. What are your thoughts about facing such an accomplished competitor?"
Riddle: "Well, that's an excellent question. I mean, bro, look at him. Dude's like, what, 60, and he still looks jacked as fuck! Shelton, bro, you look great, I got mad respect for you, but bro, you know... I'm coming for the Dub. I know Shelton's going to try to out wrestle me, and it's going to be a long night if he can catch me with some of his suplexes, but, bro, honestly, I'm taking this and I'm getting in the mix. These stallions up here, bro, they are getting me juiced! I'm ready to just keep fightin', cause there isn't a bad match to be had."
The reporter from 411Mania asks Shelton for a reply.
Shelton: "Nah, miss me with that. Riddle, you got jokes, but you're about to find out what it is. I'm puttin' all these fools on notice on Saturday. Keep runnin' your mouths, that's all the fuel I need."
We get another question in from a CBS Sports representative towards Buddy Matthews: "Buddy, this is a big stage for you, as I'm sure you are well aware. You heard what Will Ospreay said earlier and you chose not to get into the fray. What are your thoughts going into PWW 1?"
Buddy: "Eh, mate, I didn't have much of a chance, what with Paul E. puttin' on the riot act, there. I mean, you guys know what it is, if you've kept up with my career. Always a bridesmaid, never the bride, usually the last one in line gettin' cut out of the picture altogether. I'll tell you this, I'm not happy to be here. No offense, but I'm just not. I'm not satisfied to have just made it to the 'big stage'. I'm tired of being tucked away, jerkin' the curtains, bein' a 'good hand' or 'utility guy'. I'm tired of being sidekick, the best kept secret, whatever. I'm not just happy to be here, I'm here to win. Will Ospreay, you arrogant prick fuck boy, I'm here to kick your crooked teeth in and maybe I want my own shot to shut up Seth Rollins or Kenny Omega or who the fuck ever happens to show up. It doesn't matter. I'm unleashed here, and I'm hungry, and I got nothin' to lose. Nobody expects me to do nothin' here, but hell, it's the one's you never expect that take you by surprise. Remember that on Saturday, Billy Boy, when you're lookin' at the lights and I'm gettin' my hand raised high."
The next question comes from What Culture for Bryan Danielson: "Bryan, you've heard everything being said up here. You are one of the biggest names in the sport today, clearly. What do you have to say about Saturday and your future with this company?"
Bryan: "I don't have to tell anybody I'm the best, or that I'm going to have the best performance of the night. I'm focused on trying to beat a man who probably is the second best wrestler sitting here out of all of us, and that's Timothy Thatcher. He's mean, he's aggressive, and he is tactical nightmare in that ring. And, oh great, I've got to get in there and mix it up with this guy. I've got a long night ahead of me, and I don't have time to think about the future or anything except surviving on Saturday."
The reporter turns it to Timothy.
Timothy: "Bryan Danielson is a man I've looked up to in this business for years. He has been a pillar of true professional wrestling in the mainstream for, what, the last decade or so? That being said, I will go in there just like he is anybody else, and I will snap him limb from limb and break him to pieces if I have to to get the win. I have been training hard with the legendary William Regal, a man you all know and respect, a man that helped train Bryan, and I am coming with my stockades strong and my arsenal fully loaded. I'm ready to win a war."
We get one more question from Pro Wrestling Illustrated for Paul Heyman: "Paul, I'm sure you've heard, but legendary rapper and mogul Snoop Dogg has started a pro wrestling ventures out in California that has joined the National Wrestling Alliance. Any thoughts on this?"
Paul smiles and laughs.
Paul: "Do I have any thoughts? Do I have any thoughts... well, let's see. I mean, good for him. I wish him the best of luck. I think he doesn't have any idea what he is getting into, but who am I to say? I mean, I've only been in this business for three plus decades and seen great promoters like Bill Watts, Sam Muchnick, Verne Gagne, Stu Hart, Robert Fuller, even the great Vince McMahon have had to lock up their doors and shutter their windows, but Snoop DOGG!? Well, I'm sure he can just walk in off the street with a few Hollywood writers and a couple of money sucking leaches on his back and make a good go of it for a long, long time.
"I'm here to talk about real professional wrestling, which happens to be promoted here in New York and not made in some Hollywood studio, so if we don't have anymore questions about that, then I think we are done here."
And with that, Paul Heyman closes the show and Jimmy Smith comes back out to thank everyone and give them instructions for exiting.
