PRO WRESTLING WARRIORS
PRESENTS
"PWW 3: PUNK VS. REIGNS"
Date: 04/02/2022
Location: Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey
The show begins with a flash of the PWW logo, and then an opening credits sequence featuring the song "Final Fight" by Nupel Beats is shown.
We then open on the Prudential Center, as we look around the arena at this capacity crowd. These fans came to party, as they are wound up and ready for some action! We then go to Jimmy Smith and Josh Barnett at the commentary table, who are joined by their broad partner and living legend, Mick Foley!
Jimmy welcomes everyone tuning in as PWW debuts tonight on the PARAMOUNT NETWORK! He then gives Foley a special introduction, allowing to stand and get chants and cheers from this New Jersey crowd! Foley says this is so special, and he is extremely excited to be a part of this. He says that Pro Wrestling Warriors is doing wrestling the right way, and they are bringing it to fans who were just like him, in the same area he grew up in idolizing the big stars, and it just warms his heart to be here.
They go over the card a little bit, talking about the crowning of the Ultimate Champion tonight, as we will get to witness the debut of Roman Reigns as he takes on CM Punk for the gold. They send things over to Dasha Gonzalez, PWW's official reporter.
Dasha said she had an opportunity to sit down with CM Punk earlier this week, and was able to speak with Roman Reigns for awhile via satellite. We then go to a vignette shot for the match, with her narrating the footage. In the vignette, CM Punk says, "Roman Reigns can't keep my name out of his mouth and I’m living in his head rent free. It just eats this guy alive knowing the only reason he is where is today is because me and John Cena decided to move on to other things for awhile. He got shoved down everybody’s throats by the office time and time again, and nobody was buying it. I never wanted or needed the office to love me, but the people always did. Good guy, bad guy, it doesn’t matter, because when CM Punk shows up, it’s real. Whether they are booing me or cheering me, they pay to see me. Roman Reigns, for all of his physical gifts and advantages he’s had in his life, couldn’t buy that. The office tried to buy it, but the fans weren’t having it. And now he’s bitter. But this shit, it’s cyclical, and here we are again. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as they say, because we have another McMahon who is willing to kiss this guy’s ass and pay him way too much to show up and do what? I’ll tell you what he’s going to do on April 2nd in Newark, New Jersey. He’s going to show up, he’s going to get booed out of the building, get his ass kicked, and he’s going to get a paycheck. Meanwhile, CM Punk is going to walk out there, kick his ass and prove why I’ve always been better than him, Dasha, and always will be… and then I’m walking out with the Ultimate championship.”
Dasha is then sitting in a chair in front of a monitor, and Roman begins to speak, "CM Punk wants to talk up his grind, but he’s not half the man he thinks he is. He’s not going to beat me, Dasha, plain and simple. I’m here because they know ‘The Tribal Chief’ is at the top of this game, and nobody can stand up to me. Not CM Punk and not any of these other fools on this roster… or any other roster, for that matter. And it doesn't matter how much fight he has in him, or how much those people want him to win, I'm going to be the champion. I was brought here to be the champion. I am recognized, respected, acknowledged by Shane McMahon and Paul Heyman. And after I beat the brakes off CM Punk, I will be acknowledged by Dwayne Johnson, as well. He’s going to put that belt around my waist and recognize who ‘The Man’ is now. Dasha, It's all just formalities. You think I’m just going to show up in New Jersey for the hell of it!? Ha! No God damn way! No, Punk, there's a reason we're on network television and all eyes are on this event right now. And I front of the world, and all of these fans that love, I’m going to massacre your ass, break you in half, and take my belt. Because I’m the alpha in this business. I'm the 'Tribal Chief'. I’m 'The Head of the Table'. And just like everybody else… you will acknowledge me."
We head back ringside, where Jimmy asks his analysts what they think about that. Josh says that Roman is technically right, and it is going to be a tall order for CM Punk to overcome these odds tonight. Reigns has proven he can take down some of the biggest, toughest opponents we've ever seen in this business, and he is not coming to New Jersey to leave empty handed. Mick Foley then chimes in, saying a lot of people counted him out of fights he wasn't supposed to win, and he made a career out of surprising them. He says CM Punk is cut from a similar cloth, and Reigns maybe should have been careful, because a guy like Punk is going to take those words as extra motivation and come in with an even bigger chip on his shoulder.
Jimmy then directs things to the ring, where we see Tony Chimel ready to get the first match underway!
MATCH ONE
STANDARD RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Hook w/ Taz vs. Samuray del Sol
Referee: Dan Engler
Samuray del Sol would use some quick takedowns early and sent Hook outside, hitting an impressive dive that got the fans on their feet. Hook would turn the tide with a suplex on the floor, and got things back into the ring, where he never let up. Hook is cold hearted and relentlessly, putting an intense beatdown on the luchadore before tapping him out with the Redrum.
Winner by Submission: Hook
(00:05:33)
Backstage, we have Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, new Principal Owner of Pro Wrestling Warriors, standing in with Dasha Gonzalez. He says FINALLY… THE ROCK HAS COME BACK TO NEW JERSEY! That gets an audible pop from the Prudential Center. He says he is excited to be here tonight and is looking forward to crowning THE FIRST Ultimate Champion in Pro Wrestling Warriors history! He says he looks forward to a great match and giving these fans one hell of a show IF YOU SMELLLLLL… WHAT THE ROCK… is cookin’!
MATCH TWO
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Damian Priest vs. Ricochet
Referee: John Cone
Ricochet would put up a good fight against the bigger Priest, showing his speed and athleticism, as well as some striking ability. Priest was tough and resilient, but seemed like he might be in trouble after taking a tumble to the outside after a Ricochet kick. Ricochet would deliver a Fosbury Flop to the outside to get the fans on their feet, and then sent Priest back into the ring. Ricochet would go to the well one too many times, however, attempting a springboard, but Priest was back up and sent him flying to the outside! Ricochet would land awkwardly on the outside, clearly hurting himself. Priest would take advantage, shoving him back into the ring and delivering the South of Heaven to get the pinfall.
Winner by Pinfall: Damian Priest
Ricochet appears to be injured after the match and is helped to back by medical staff.
(00:07:15)
Se go backstage,, where Shane McMahon talks about the next show and date. PWW is head to Boston on May 7th at the TD Garden.
MATCH THREE
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Kenny Omega vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Referee: Jason Ayers
Ciampa gives “The Cleaner” a pretty good beating early, pounding him with forearms and knees and then actually ripping into his face with fish hooks. Omega makes a comeback, pulling in the fans with some quick hitting offense that sends Ciampa to the outside. From there, Omega delivers a very graceful Springboard Moonsault that wipes “The Blackheart” out. Back in the ring Ciampa rakes at the eyes of Omega blatantly and gets a stern warning from Jason Ayers. Ciampa goes back on the attack and tries for the Air Raid Crash, but Omega reverses it into a Sunset Flip attempt for a two count. Omega is back up and delivers a V Trigger to Ciampa, cleaning his clock pretty good, before hitting the One Winged Angel for the three count.
Winner by Pinfall: Kenny Omega
(00:07:45)
Omega asks for a microphone after the match. He says there’s a guy who’s been running his mouth that needs to be shut up badly, and that’s Will Ospreay. He says if Ospreay has the guts and wants to back up his mouth, he’ll see him on May 7th in Boston.
We go backstage, where Bobby Lashley and Scott Steiner are standing in with Dasha Gonzalez. Steiner says there’s no way an ugly, flabby Austrian can possibly compete with an American made, bonafide genetic freak like Bobby Lashley! He’s out of his God damn mind even thinkin’ he could try! Lashley then takes over, saying that WALTER has turned a lot of heads with his style and his toughness, but he says he is “The Destroyer” and he has come for a war… and he says WALTER will be left a broken man when he is done with him.
MATCH FOUR
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Nick Nemeth vs. Shelton Benjamin w/ Kurt Angle
Referee: Chad Patton
Kurt Angle gets on the microphone before the match to gloat that he was able to get the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission to change the ruling of Nick Nemeth’s win over Chad Gable to a no contest, due to referee Chad Patton’s negligence and ignorance of the rules! He says he doesn’t know how he still has a job, but he’d better do a better job tonight! Patton plays it straight and shrugs it off as Angle smirks and struts away.
“The Show Off” came ready for action, and he kept the pace high at the start as he tried to stay out of the grips of Shelton Benjamin. Eventually Benjamin would catch Nemeth and take him to the mat, but it wasn’t an easy task after that. Nemeth showed great technical ability on the mat once again, and this thing really heated up from there! Back and forth, we had big blows landing, before Benjamin would catch Nemeth on top with a high knee and then a Super Belly to Belly Suplex for a near fall! Back to their feet, Nemeth would manage to reverse a German Suplex attempt into a roll-up for a two count, followed by a quick Superkick! Kurt Angle would jump up on the apron momentarily, distracting Chad Patton for a second and he gets yelled at by the official. Angle tells him to do his job for once! Benjamin kicks out of a pin attempt, but just barely. Nemeth tries to lock on a Sleeper, but Benjamin breaks free and reverses it into an Ankle Lock! Nemeth gets to the rope for a second, but Benjamin rolls. Patton is very quick to make Benjamin break the hold, who is protesting profusely! Angle is blowing a gasket on the outside, screaming at Patton, who yells back that IT’S THE RULES! Josh Barnett points out that Chad Patton apparently figured out the rules for a rope break. Benjamin is distracted arguing with Patton so Nemeth grabs him and pulls him over with an O’Connor Roll, bridging it, and Patton counts the three! Mick Foley makes a comment about Kurt Angle being on the edge of having a stroke as the bell sounds.
Winner by Pinfall: Nick Nemeth
(00:08:55)
Angle pulls Benjamin from the ring and is yelling at Nemeth and Patton as “The Show Off” mocks them on the way out. Mick Foley says that sometimes the universe offers the people poetic justice, and this was certainly that. Barnett points out that Nick Nemeth has been off to a great start in PWW and has showed some great skill, so it’ll be interesting to see who Paul Heyman is able to match him up with next.
We go backstage, where we see Bryan Danielson walking down a backstage hallway, and he is flanked by none other than Lance Storm! Josh Barnett points out that Danielson has been isolated in Canada training in Calgary, and it looks like Storm has been training with him in preparation for this Fight Pit cage match! Mick Foley says that he’s been through some hellacious cage matches in the past, and you can do all of the training and prep, but once you’re in there and the door is locked behind you, it’s a whole different feeling. Barnett agrees with the sentiment. Foley then says Danielson is a good kid and Storm has a great reputation, but so does William Regal and he thinks this match is going to be a brutal one.
MATCH FIVE
SUBMISSION RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Drew Gulak w/ Taz vs. Jonathan Gresham
Referee: Jason Ayers
This match was really more of an “I Quit” match, as you couldn’t pin your opponent, be counted out, be disqualified, and rope breaks were not in effect. These two men have tremendous pride, and they were looking to test who the best technical wrestler really was. The last time these two met was at “PWW 1”, where Gulak would be disqualified after an eye poke. Gulak has now been training with Taz and he looked more vicious than he did in the last showing. Gresham would get the fans fired up on some big moves, such as a Quebrada off the middle rope that caught Gulak off guard, as well as a big Sliding Elbow to the back of Gulak’s head. Gresham would show his prowess on the mat a number of times, using creative reversals and transitions to get Gulak tied up into holds. Gulak would show his grit to escape the holds and then would attack Gresham’s shoulder after sending him into the turnpost from a hammerlock. Gulak would hoist Gresham on his shoulder on the outside and battering ram him shoulder first into the post to really add insult to injury. Greshamn would try to fire up and fight back, locking on his Octopus Hold, but his shoulder would give out on him, allowing Gulak to counter and hit a Single Arm DDT into a Rings of Saturn to get the submission victory.
Winner by Submission: Drew Gulak
Taz gets on the mic after the match and says that Team Taz is 2-0 tonight, and nobody can step to them! This leads none other than Samoa Joe to make his way out! Samoa Joe says Drew Gulak’s got some nice submissions under his belt, but let’s see what he can do in Boston against the “Samoan Submission Machine”! Joe drops the mic as Taz looks a little baffled and the crowd chants for Joe!
(00:12:23)
MATCH SIX
STANDARD RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Bobby Lashley w/ Scott Steiner vs. Walter
Referee: John Cone
Steiner would be running his mouth through the entire match trying to get into the head of Walter, but Walter’s stoic demeanor would not waiver. This match didn’t last long, as these two were throwing bombs at each other and going for the kill. Lashley would deliver a Spear, but Walter would show his toughness by kicking out. Lashley would attempt to hit a Dominator on the big man, but Walter would escape and land a huge Lariat, but only a two count! Walter would deliver a Powerbomb, followed by a Boot to the face of the seated Lashley, and then hit a Splash off the top rope to secure the victory.
Winner by Pinfall: Walter
(00:08:13)
After the match we would hear a theme song familiar to most modern wrestling fans hit. The crowd were jumping on their feet as BROCK LESNAR emerged from behind the curtain. Without saying anything on the mic, he pointed at Walter standing in the ring and said he wants him. Walter motions for him to come on down. After a tense stare down from across the ramp, Lesnar heads to the back.
Jimmy Smith comments about the atmosphere buzzing after that. Josh Barnett says that Lesnar and Walter getting into the ring is a huge fight with a lot of interesting aspects to it. Foley says it is an absolute dream match, and he could see it going either way, but it’s THE FANS who will be the winner in that one!
MATCH SEVEN
FIGHT PIT RULES
One Fall, No Time Limit
Bryan Danielson w/ Lance Storm vs. Timothy Thatcher w/ William Regal
Referee: No Referee
We go backstage, where a ring with no ropes surrounded by a cage has been set up. The cage has platforms around the perimeter. There are security guards, as well as other wrestlers, and Paul Heyman standing in. Paul Heyman explains the rules to crowd of wrestlers and staff who are circled around the ring. Storm and Regal are on opposite sides yelling instructions to their wrestler. Heyman informs them the match will stop when one man submits or can no longer continue. The wrestlers outside the ring are rattling the cage and yelling and cheering as Heyman yells out to start the match!
The match starts out with some hard back and forth grappling and blows from the clinch. Thatcher opens it up with a big slap to the face, which leads Danielson to land a series of kicks. Thatcher bull rushes him into the cage and then delivers a Belly to Belly Suplex followed by a series of mounted slaps. Thatcher tries for a Cross Armbar, but Danielson reverses it and picks him up and dumps him before landing multiple stomps to the head! Thatcher lands a headbutt to swing things, followed by knees and then a Double Underhook Suplex. He tries for the Fujiwara Armbar, but Danielson slips out and attempts to lock in the LeBell Lock, but Thatcher escapes that. They begin trading hard strikes back and forth in the center of the cage before Danielson delivers a Headbutt, followed by a Dragon Suplex! Regal is yelling for Thatcher to get up as the crowd of wrestlers are yelling and chanting for Danielson. Danielson looks to them and points to the platform. Danielson then leaps and grabs it, heading up top, thinking he might do something, as Mick Foley comments on the dangers of being on top of a cage like this.
Danielson looks down and Thatcher is back up. Thatcher yells at Danielson and then jumps and gets on top of the platform as well! Both men meet and begin exchanging slaps, knees, kicks, with Thatcher nearly knocking Danielson over the rail to the floor with a slap! Thatcher grabs Danielson and looks like he might Belly to Belly Suplex him off the platform, but Danielson sticks his thumbs in his eyes to break the hold! Danielson then kicks him in the groin! The wrestlers are all cheering as Josh Barnett comments about this getting down right nasty now! Danielson then hooks Thatcher in… and delivers a Superplex off the platform down to the mat!
They are both down and Heyman is thinking about stepping in and calling this. Danielson manages to pull himself up on the ropes as Thatcher is still hurting on the mat. Danielson is now egging on the cheering wrestlers on the outside, getting pumped up. Thatcher picks himself and Danielson runs at him, but Thatcher catches him with a boot in mid-air to stifle whatever Danielson was attempting. Thatcher delivers a German Suplex and then attempts to lock on the Fujiwara Armbar again, but Danielson again slips it and begins blasting Thatcher with elbows! Thatcher is back against the cage and Danielson is now kneeing him to the side of the head repeatedly! Danielson soccer kicks him and then stomps him to the back of the head a couple of times. Thatcher is looking to be in a very bad way as Regal yells to bloody get out off the cage! Thatcher desperately tries to take Danielson down with a Single Leg Sweep, but Danielson goes to his back and reverses it into a Triangle Choke! Barnett notes that he has it on very tight! Thatcher tries to lift Danielson and break the hold, but Danielson is pummeling him with downward elbows.
Thatcher goes limp, and Heyman yells to stop the match! He says it’s over!
Winner by TKO: Bryan Danielson
(00:16:39)
After the match both men look exhausted as their coaches come in and towel them off and check on them. The medical team steps in and checks both men, and then we head back ringside. Jimmy Smith says that was absolutely brutal. Josh Barnett says that both men showed a lot of heart, but that Bryan just seemed to have that killer instinct edge that allowed him to dig down deep. Foley says he feels like that match might have just took years off those young men’s careers and maybe lives, and we should all appreciate what we just witnessed in that cage.
MATCH EIGHT
ULTIMATE CHAMPIONSHIP
STANDARD RULES
One Fall, 25 Minute Time Limit
CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns
Referee: Chad Patton
The fans were ready for some live action after having to watch the previous match, as good as it was, on the big screen. And they were energized for these two wildly popular stars! While CM Punk was very animated and showed great energy in his always classic entrance, Roman Reigns was much different. Reigns let the roar of boos rain over him as he made his way out very deliberately. Reigns wouldn’t even look at Punk as he got in, big leaguing him by walking right by him like he was invisible. He then had his back turned on him and looked unimpressed as Chad Patton held up the Ultimate Championship in the center of the ring. He then hands it off to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who is smiling and waving to the fans from the outside
It was clear from the pre-match interviews and from the demeanor at the start of this that these two genuinely dislike each other. You couldn’t have two more different paths to the big leagues or personalities, and that made for fireworks to start. Reigns would start by running his mouth and Punk opened up with a leaping headbutt! The smack was sick on that. From there, Punk would unload like he was in a hockey fight, grabbing Reigns by the hair and was waylaying on his with hooks and uppercuts in a wild fashion that saw both men fall through the ropes! The fans are on their feet, the commentary team are on their feet, this is insane!
Reigns is getting rocked, but he manages to grab Punk by the throat and shoves him against the guardrail. Reigns then unloads a series of big right hands before hitting a knee and then tossing Punk into the turnpost. Punk stumbles up and Reigns is running at him, but Punk dodges it and Reigns smashes into the guardrail. Punk unloads with a series of kicks and overhand punches. Punk then gets on the apron and motions to the crowd, getting a big cheer! Punk runs on the apron and flies off, looking for a Double Axe Handle, but Reigns catches him with a Spear in mid-air to take him down!
Jimmy Smith notes that Chad Patton is trying to get the wrestlers back into the ring, as they should only have a 10 count on the outside. Foley says that with the title on the line, he might just have to let that ship sail. Reigns lands a series of punches on Punk and then goes under the ring, where he finds a Steel Chair! Barnett says something has to be done about this, and Chad Patton is down on the floor now. Chad tries to grab the chair away, but Reigns over powers him… and here comes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson!
The fans explode!
Roman lifts the chair over his head and The Rock snatches it out of his hands. Roman looks stunned! He mouths, “What the fuck!?” He then turns around and eats a Spinning Backfist from Punk that knocks him loopy! The Rock takes the chair and goes back to where he was seated at, yelling out to the fans who are cheering him on about not taking any shit! Punk sends Roman back into the ring and heads to the top rope. He comes off with the Double Axe Handle, and this time he gets it! He goes for the cover, but just a two count. Punk lays into Roman with mounted punches and then attempts to lock on the Anaconda Vise, but Roman manages to power out of that and roll back to his feet. Punk gets up and Roman catches him with a Superman Punch almost out of nowhere! Roman yells out with an OOOH AHHHH! and the fans chant along with that. We know what he’s going for next.
Roman has Punk lined up and delivers another Spear! Punk is hurting bad, but he’s close enough to the ropes that he rolls through and falls to the outside near the announcer’s table. Roman looks pissed off about this. Punk is pulling himself up with the apron as Barnett says he has taken a lot of damage and might not be able to take much more. Roman grabs Punk by his hair and pulls him up to the apron. Punk, though, is still showing fight, as he unloads with lefts and rights to the midsection before hitting a Roundhouse Kick that wobbles “The Tribal Chief”! Foley says that looks like it caught more of his shoulder than his head, but he is feeling it. Punk grabs Roman by the hair and pulls him towards the buckles. He hooks his arms and Jimmy Smith is wondering what he is thinking. Foley says maybe a Pepsi Plunge off the apron!?
Roman manages to break free and blasts Punk across the face with a big right hand, and then pulls him by the hair and headbutts him to really stagger him. Barnett says that Punk looks like he’s out on the top turnbuckle. Roman scoops him up off the buckles onto his shoulders in a Fireman’s Carry position. Jimmy Smith now is wondering what the hell “The Head of the Table” is doing!? The fans waiting with bated breath. Roman looks out with a dead stare from the center of the apron and then squats and jumps backwards…
SAMOAN DROP OFF THE APRON THROUGH THE ANNOUNCER’S TABLE!
Jimmy, Josh, and Mick all tried to get out of the way, but Foley actually ended up toppling over as the debris flew at him. The Rock is standing and looking down in shock and amazement as Punk lays motionless in a pile of rubble and Reigns just sits there, staring from of himself with a sort of half sadistic, half exhausted smirk that also resembles a snarl.
Chad Patton calls for medics as he assesses the situation. Reigns stands up and slowly walks up the ring steps and back into the ring as the crowd buzzes. Chants are started and stopped and booing picks up as the fans are letting Reigns have it. There is no commentary, as the table and the equipment are all laying across the floor. The medics can be heard telling Patton the match has to stop. Patton calls for the bell.
Roman Reigns is standing in the center of the ring waiting to be presented with his belt. Tony Chimel, Chad Patton, and Dwayne Johnson holding the Ultimate championship belt all enter the ring as Reigns has a smug look on his face. Chimel then, nervously, announces the result.
“The result of this match is a NO CONTEST!”
Reigns narrows his gaze and says, “WHAT!?”
No Contest
(00:16:22)
Reigns tells The Rock to give him his belt. He says, “Put that shit around my waist right now!” The Rock says, “No, brother, I can’t do that.” Reigns says, “You WILL give me that belt, and you WILL acknowledge me, or we’re gonna have a problem!” The Rock answers back, “No, I’m not giving this to you, you did not earn it, it ain’t happenin’!”
Reigns turns and nods. The Rock puts his hands up, holding the belt in his right hand, and tries to deescalate the situation when…
BAM! REIGNS TURNS AROUND WITH THE SUPERMAN PUNCH, KNOCKING DWAYNE JOHNSON OUT FLAT IN THE CENTER OF THE RING! THE CROWD IS GOING CRAZY!
Reigns grabs the belt and yells, “WHAT NOW, BITCH!?” Security hits the ring and then grab him, but he starts struggling and rolls through the ropes out of the ring. Reigns starts storming off to the back with the title over his shoulder as the crowd is chanting, “THIS IS AWESOME!” and the show goes off the air.
