“PWW 4: Danielson vs. WALTER" Results
05/21/2022
Boston, MA – Agganis Arena
We start off the show with Jimmy Smith and Josh Barnett going over the card. The announcement was made at the pre-event press conference on Thursday that the main event had changed to Bryan Danielson vs. WALTER for the Ultimate Championship. This garnered a lot of reactions, both positive and negative. We head over Dasha Gonzalez on the entry ramp, and she introduces a video package for this match.
Bryan Danielson talks about how he was preparing for a war, but the scale just got a whole lot bigger now that he is facing WALTER. He says that the man’s reputation is well known and whether anybody wants to admit or not, he is one of the most feared men in the business right now. Danielson says that after defeating Timothy Thatcher in the Fight Pit, the fear has been beaten out of him and he is ready for anything. He says he is planning to walk out of Boston wearing 10 lbs. of gold, but if not, they’ll have to carry him out of there with his boots on, as he will not stop as long as he can fight.
WALTER says that Danielson is one of the most respected wrestlers in the world, but that doesn’t mean much to him. He has come to smash and conquer, simple as that. WALTER says when men have to talk about their toughness and their heart, it means they get beat up a lot. He says Danielson is one of those men. WALTER says he is going to enjoy beating him up, sending him back to his wife blistered, bloodied, and bruised, and then he is going to enjoy taking the Ultimate title back to Austria with him.
We then head to Tony Chimel in the ring, as we prepare for our first match of the evening.

One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Timothy Thatcher w/ William Regal vs. Tyson Dux
Referee: John Cone
William Regal seemed much more intense here than he has on previous shows, shouting out instructions to Thatcher with venom in his voice. Thatcher seemed to have more pop and snap to everything he did tonight, and cranked the Canadian veteran’s arm almost out of socket with a Fujiwara Armbar to get the victory.
Winner by Submission: Timothy Thatcher
(00:03:55)
Regal gets on the microphone afterwards and says that he doesn’t care if it’s Danielson or WALTER wearing the Ultimate title, because he will have Thatcher ready to destroy any man in his path going forward.
We go backstage, where Samoa Joe is standing in with Dasha. Dasha asks Joe how he is feeling about his match tonight with Boston native Biff Busick. Joe says that after tasing defeat in his debut, he knows he needs to go out and make a statement. He doesn’t care where Biff Busick’s from or what anybody thinks about it. He says it’s time that everybody, including him, remembers who the fuck Samoa Joe is. He says the Massachusetts Athletic Commission has given him a license to commit violence tonight, and everybody here in Boston and watching at home are going to witness an assault… he calls out to Paul Heyman, telling him he better be ready to call 911 when this is all over with, and maybe get a priest over here in case Biff Busick doesn’t make it to Massachusetts General. And with that, we head back to Jimmy and Josh at the commentary table.
Jimmy Smith says that Samoa Joe is fired up tonight! Josh says that all sounded good and was very pro wrestling, but he feels like a guy like Biff Busick is only going to use that as fuel for his own fire, and Samoa Joe might get burned if he’s too cocky.
MATCH TWO
STANDARD RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Alex Shelley vs. Drew Gulak
Referee: Dan Engler
Gulak is feeling good after a recent Submission Match victory over Jon Gresham, but Alex Shelley wasn’t showing him any respect. Gulak would get irate after being booed and jeered by the crowd and would scream at them to show him some respect, he’s a professional, damn it! Shelley would manage to one up him in a chain wrestling exchange, leading Gulak to completely lose it and start in his stomps, chomps, and headbutts. Gulak would get a little overzealous, getting sloppy with a Belly-to-Back Suplex attempt that lead Shelley to hammerlock him and take him down into a wild pinning combination to get the three count!
Winner by Pinfall: Alex Shelley
(00:09:10)
Gulak pounds on the mat with both fists in a tantrum and then yells at Dan Engler, pointing a finger at him and scolding him about a fast count! Shelley is smiling and pointing at his head backing up the ramp, infuriating Gulak further. Gulak is covering his ears as the fans mock him and then yells at Shelley that he’ll get him! This isn’t over!
We go backstage once more, as we see Nick Nemeth standing in with Dahsa, looking very confident with a smile on his face. Dasha says that Nick Nemeth has managed to rack up a couple of nice victories over Team Alpha, but tonight, we faces a much different challenge in Will Ospreay. Dasha asks how preparing for this match has differed from his previous opponents. “The Show Off” says that Gable and Benjamin are definitely more grounded, but the key to beating any of these guys is cardio. Nemeth says his cardio is legendary, just ask Amy Schumer or any number of satisfied women around the globe! He says Ric Flair used to talk about being a "60 Minue Man", but he says he can go 90 minutes ,two hours,, 8 hours, it doesn't matter! He is a “Marathon Man”, in the ring and in the bedroom. He says after he’s done beating Ospreay, he’ll glad to show the ladies of Boston what “The Show Off” can really do!

“The Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne vs. Tony Deppen
Referee: Jason Ayers
Pete Dunne is a grumpy guy, and he didn’t seem pleased to be here. He threatened a few fans with the back of his hand as he entered, as he clearly had no interest in high fiving them or kissing their babies. He came to inflict pain. But, Tony Deppen proved to be a very game opponent. Deppen is high energy and has a natural charisma which had the fans behind him from the moment he stepped through the curtain. Dunne would try to keep the Pennsylvania native down with his stiff and contorting offense, but Deppen would show his heart and intensity, battling back with stiff shots of his own, nearly putting out Dunne would with a Bicycle Knee Strike. Dunne would avoid a Knee Trembler from Deppen, rolling him up for a two count before hitting a Powerbomb and then the Bitter End to get the three count.
Winner by Pinfall: Pete Dunne

Chad Gable w/ Kurt Angle vs. Low Ki
Referee: Chad Patton
Kurt Angle gets on the mic before this match and says that he heard Nick Nemeth bragging about beating Team Alpha and saying he’s a “ Marathon Man”, but he says the next time he sees Nemeth, his boys aren’t going to need “90 Minutes” to shut his mouth and pound his ass! The fans start laughing and mocking Angle, which leads to him realizing what he’s implied. Angle gets flustered and yells at the fans to “”GROW UP!” Chad Gable pats him on the shoulder and have a hug before the bell sounds.
Angle leaves the ring and Low Ki is across the ring fast and sends Gable into the buckles with a Front Dropkick from Hell! Gable has to get out and take a breather, as that just knocked the wind out of him. Ki is as intense as ever and stays on the Olympian, as he senses he could get a huge win here to propel his PWW career. Gable and Low Ki have great reversal exchanges throughout. One of note saw Gable attempt a Sunset Flip, only to have Ki try to reverse it with a Standing Double Stomp, only to have Gable sit up to avoid it and then try to grab him back into the Sunset Flip that lead Ki to back flip and then land a Buzzsaw Kick to the seated Gable, followed by a Standing Double Stomp for a two count. The slaps, chops, uppercuts, and headbutts were plentiful in this match, as you could imagine. Cesaro had the strength and experience advantage, but few can really match the intensity and destructive power of Dragunov. Jimmy Smith points out that Cesaro is playing mind games with the Russian, but Josh Barnett says that it could backfire. Ospreay tries to up the pace after a couple of minutes of feeling out, but Nemeth shows his stellar amateur background, taking Ospreay to the mat and smothering him, taunting him and showboating all the while. Biff Busick vs. Samoa Joe
Referee: Jason Ayers
Samoa Joe had big words earlier in the night for Busick and Boston, but this is Biff’s hometown, and he had the support of this crowd. Joe was pretty cocky to start, shoving Biff across the face and telling him to hit him. Busick obliged, and seemed to wake Joe up with a MASSIVE slap right across the face, and this thing got going in a hurry! There was no feeling out process or holds. These two came to throw bombs and make an impact. Joe would hit his Uranage Suplex out of the corner at one point, but Busick would fire up and answer right back with a T-Bone Suplex of his own! Joe would duck a Lariat at one point and deliver a German Suplex, only to have Busick stagger up and still deliver the Lariat for a two count! Busick would try for a Half Nelson Suplex later, but Joe would reverse it; Busick would try for another Lariat, but Joe would duck it and then hit a Snap Powerslam. Joe would try to lock on the Coquina Clutch, but Busick would fight out of and escape through Joe’s legs behind him, with Joe on all fours on the mat. Busick would then show his strength, hitting a Dead Lift German Suplex on Joe for a two count! Busick would try for the Half Nelson Suplex again and he would nail it, but Joe got a boot on the rope at two to break it up. Busick would lift Joe off the mat by his arm and try for a Short Arm Lariat, but Joe would duck it and hit a Side Mount Suplex, followed by a Running Boot in the corner, and then the Muscle Buster to get the three count.
Winner by Pinfall: Samoa Joe
(00:16:39)
Josh Barnett says this was a star making performance for Busick in front of his home crowd, as they chant his name in the end. Busick looks like he is still ready to fight after the bell, but Joe shows him respect and grabs his wrist, raising his hand for the crowd as they cheer them both on.

“The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs. “The Ring General” WALTER
Referee: Chad Patton
The crowd is pretty burned out at this point, as this has been a night of intense action and these two know it. The match starts off slow, as Danielson is trying to avoid making any mistakes and WALTER is content to wait for an opening. WALTER would eventually get his hands on Danielson and start inflicting damage on him with chops and heavy blows, using a Gutwrench Suplex to send him rolling out of the ring in pain. WALTER follows Danielson to the outside and punishes him in front of the crowd methodically, lifting him and slamming him onto the guardrail and then Biel throwing him into the ring steps. WALTER steps on the chest of “The American Dragon” and begins singing the Austrian national anthem as the crowd boos and chants “USA! USA! USA!” Back in the ring, Danielson fires up with kicks and chops that seem to rock WALTER a bit, and the fans are really starting to come back to life in a big way. “YES! YES! YES!” as Danielson sends kicks into the chest of WALTER, who is reeling on the mat, but WALTER catches a kick coming for his head and grabs Danielson into a Single Arm Powerbomb for a two count! Danielson stumbles into the turnbuckles and WALTER barrels in, but Danielson avoids impact as WALTER smashes into the buckles. Danielson catches him with a Dropkick into the corner and a Belly-to-Back Suplex, but is too slow on a Diving Headbutt attempt. WALTER delivers a Folding Powerbomb for a two count. WALTER then tries for a Lariat, but Danielson reverses it and attempts the LeBell Lock, but WALTER reverses it and sends a boot into Danielson’s face. WALTER hits a Lariat to the back of Danielson’s head and goes for the cover, but still just a two count. WALTER yanks him up and delivers a Side Belly-to-Belly Suplex, but still just a two. “The Ring General” sends VICIOUS forearms into the back of Danielson’s head and Barnett thinks Danielson might be out. WALTER attempts to lock on a Rear Naked Choke, but Danielson slips it and tries for another LeBell Lock! WALTER gets to the ropes to break it! Danielson is sending left and right kicks into the Austrian as he pulls himself up on the ropes. Danielson runs and attempts another Dropkick, but WALTER side steps it and Danielson hits the ropes. WALTER rolls him and delivers a German Suplex! Danielson is sitting in a daze on the mat. WALTER runs off the ropes and BLASTS HIM in the back of the head with a Sliding Forearm! WALTER makes the cover, and he gets the three count! We have a champion!
Winner by Pinfall, and NEW PWW ULTIMATE CHAMPION: WALTER
(00:22:13)
Danielson is out for a while, but eventually rolls under the ropes and lays on the floor. He gave everything tonight. WALTER doesn’t have to say anything because the commentators are saying it for him. Pro wrestling is WALTER’s world now, and everybody else just lives in it. He stands with his arms raised and the championship around his waist as the show comes to an end.
