COMPLEX WRESTLING
PRESENTS
“COMBAT STREAM, EP. 1” ON YouTube
We get an introduction video with ”The Final Episode (Let’s Change Channel)” by Asking Alexandria playing over it before heading to the studio. We are introduced to play by play commentator Jeff Davis with his commentary partner and former professional wrestling star Blake Donovan. Davis welcomes the fans and explains what is going down tonight. We have four matches to determine the four men who will enter the first major COMPLEX show to compete for the highest prize in the company: the Global Combat Crown. From there, Jeff sends it over to lead interviewer Christi Perez, who has spoken with all of the competitors prior to the show.
We go to a video package that shows Christi sitting in with each of the competitors, as clips of their past matches are cut in between the interview segments. I am not going to go into a lot of detail on these interviews, as I will do more character work on the next show. For now, just know everybody established themselves and their desires to become the champion, and we head to back to the studio.
Blake Donovan says that a couple of the guys he saw looked like pretty rough dudes, and he wouldn’t be surprised to see a guy like Komodo win it all. We then head to the ring, where ring announcer John Chandler is standing in, ready to introduce our first competitors.
MATCH ONE
Standard Rules
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
“The Phoenix” Chris Chambers vs. “The Influencer” Johnny Reed w/ Kaylee Rave
Referee: Chad Patterson
Johnny and Kaylee are full of themselves to the point of distraction, taking videos of themselves and posting from their phones all the way down the ring. They would get a few selfies with the fans at ringside, which was nice. Chris Chambers would also come out with high energy, but was a lot more intense and wasn’t here for these shenanigans. The Edmonton native would end up attacking Reed from behind as he and Rave were doing a TikTok dance, getting this match underway in an abrupt fashion.
Chambers would chop and kick Reed all around the ring before delivering a Fisherman’s Suplex for a two count. Reed is selling like a drunken hobo on the outside, staggering and swinging at nothing, and gets blasted into the front row with a high speed Suicide Dive by “The Phoenix”. Reed goes over the railing in a bad wipe out, and Rave is protesting to Chad Patterson to do something! Her bae doesn’t get any breaks, however, as Chambers goes to the top turnbuckle and flies out over the railing and onto Reed in the crowd with a Crossbody Block! The fans are chanting for Chambers now, as he has put on quite the show in the first few minutes here.
Kaylee distracts Chambers as he’s pulling Reed back over the railing, allowing Reed to low blow him and toss him into the guard rail. Reed chokes Chambers with his boot against the guardrail and takes a video of it, mocking “The Phoenix”, before sending him into. Chad Patterson has been very lenient with the outside ring count, but his patience is wearing thin. Reed attempts to springboard in onto Chambers, but “The Phoenix” avoids contact and grabs him with a Bridging German Suplex for a two count! Chambers calls for the end and tries to execute the Phoenix Wings (Double Underhook Piledriver), but Reed manages to break free and hit a Superkick to take Chambers down to a knee. Reed then runs and springboards off the ropes and hits a Twisting Codebreaker! Reed goes for the cover, but only a two count!
Reed goes to the top rope, but he’s too slow, as Chambers rushes up and delivers a Frankensteiner to wipe him out! Chambers is back up and hits a Shining Enzugiri and then picks him back up and hooks him in… Phoenix Wings! Chambers makes the cover, but Rave grabs Reed’s foot and places it on the bottom rope! Chad Patterson breaks up the cover but suspects foul play and warns Rave. Chambers threatens her over the ropes and goes back on the attack, but Reed gauges his eyes and runs, springboarding and delivering the Beautiful Disaster! Reed covers, but still just a two count! Reed now calls for the end and tells Rave to get the camera ready. Reed picks up Chambers and lifts him up, looking for Under the Influence (Dead Eye), but Chambers slides off and attempts a Sunset Flip. Reed drops down to counter, but Chambers pops up almost Matrix style behind him and runs off the ropes. Chambers delivers a Sliding Single Leg Dropkick to Reed’s face!
Chambers holds his arms out and seems all fired up, calling for the end. Chambers hooks Reed’s arms and lifts him, a little higher and he spins and jumps, drilling “The Influencer” even harder with the Double Underhook Piledriver, and this time it’s all over. We have our first participant in the four-way at “COMPLEX 1”.
Winner by Pinfall: Chris Chambers
(00:10:23)
Chambers looked great in this contest and had the fans behind him, as his high impact style and intensity made a great impact on him and the commentary team. Blake Donovan says that after seeing this performance, he is going to be a tough guy to overcome in the four-way for the Global Combat Crown. Johnny Reed is left holding his neck up the ramp and yells for Kaylee to stop recording him and to delete the video of him getting beat! The fans get a kick out of mocking him and recording him with their own phones as he walks up the ramp.
MATCH TWO
Standard Rules
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Jace Maynard vs. Komodo w/ Ari Abrams
Referee: Todd Fitzgerald
Komodo's manager Ari Abrams made strong claims in the opening vignette about his client and what he is capable of. Komodo certainly looks very imposing, standing at 6'03" and weighing in at almost 250 lbs, covered in tattoos and attitude radiating from him. Jace Maynard is a smaller and lankier guy, but he is chiseled and promised to show the wrestling world technical wrestling perfection in this contest. He really didn't disappoint, as the match got started and he got to work on his game plan. Komodo would manage to grab Maynard and take him down early, much to the pleasure of Abrams on the outside, who was cheerleading for his man, but Maynard showed his counter wrestling skill. Maynard would capture Komodo into a tight keylock on the mat with an arm scissors. After some struggle and fight, Komodo would get to the ropes and the no nonsense Todd Fitzgerald would demand he relinquish the hold. Maynard would protest about having until the count of fight, and Fitzgerald threatened to disqualify him! Blake Donovan muses that this is going to be a very straight laced contest if this any indication of how the ship is going to be ran, and he wouldn't like that at all!
Maynard would continue to try to be coy and clever in his approach, but the power and technique of Komodo would prove to be too much. Komodo would use hard knees and kicks that seemed to rock Maynard to his core to open up his suplex heavy offense. Maynard would attempt to lock Komodo into a Triangle Choke as counter to a pin attempt, but Komodo would use his power to lift and slam Maynard into the buckles to break it in a bad way! Abrams claps on the outside and tells the fans their looking at the champ in there! Komodo delivers a BRUTAL Spear with a spin out afterwards that sent Maynard flipping inside out! Komodo then grabbed Maynard by his long hair and blasted him across the face with crossface punches, just to add insult to injury, before locking on the Dragon Clutch tight to get the submission victory.
Winner by Submission: Komodo
(00:08:17)
Jeff Davis comments about how impressive that display was from Komodo, while Blake Donovan says that he stands by his previous statement that Komodo is the man to beat in Global Combat Crown match at "COMPLEX 1".
MATCH THREE
Standard Rules
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
“The Prophet” Gabriel Moore vs. “Dark Horse” Nick Reiner
Referee: Mark Lopez
Gabriel Moore has an arrogant air about him, walking out in a black robe with a crucifix on the back and not wanting to associate with the unclean sinners of the audience. Nick Reiner is an international star fighting out of Ontario, but spent a lot of time in Japan and recently Mexico under a hood as Crazy Horse. After losing his mask, he dubbed himself the "Dark Horse" and has taken on a much sharper edge in his matches. Gabriel Moore would try to play mind games early, getting in the ropes to avoid grappling with "Dark Horse", but Mark Lopez had had enough told him to fight or get the Hell out of the ring! Blake Donovan comments on the spunk of Lopez, and says he thinks he's going to let the guys actually fight here!
These two grapple and it is a fast paced exchange of holds and takeovers before Reiner escaped a head scissors and delivered a Dropkick to the seated Moore's mouth, sending him out of the ring in pain. Reiner stays on him and delivers a Pescado to the outside, and then mounts him and lays in with a series of closed fists that get the crowd on their feet. Reiner chops and kicks Moore all around the ring, leaving Moore on his knees begging for forgiveness. He pleads with "Dark Horse", but Reiner grabs a chair from the crowd and says, "FORGIVE THIS!" and throws it right into Moore's face, knocking him silly! Lopez seems to be okay with this, as he is making a slow twenty count on the inside.
Back in the ring, Reiner looks like he is trying for a Dragon Suplex, but Moore escapes with a low mule kick and then delivers a DDT for a two count. Moore chokes Reiner with his shin on the mat and folds his hands in prayer as the fans boo and cheer for "Dark Horse"! Moore then goes onto the middle turnbuckle and does a pose with his arms out stretched before leaping off and hitting a Blockbuster on Reiner he calls the Morning Star, but Reiner manages to kick out at two! Moore calls for the end and picks Reiner up, and he is looking for the Stimagata (Unprettier), but Reiner escapes and hits a Snap Release Dragon Suplex! Reiner is fired up and hits a Standing Tiger Driver, and turns it right into a Texas Cloverleaf! Moore is in a lot of pain, but he's close enough to the ropes to get a break. Reiner chops and kicks him before taking him over with a Bridging German Suplex, but still just a two count. Now it is Reiner calling for the end, and he twists Moore up, looking for the Tombstone Piledriver, but Moore kicks his legs and slides off of his back and tries to roll him up, but just a two count! Moore catches Reiner with a poke with the eye and then a Reverse Facelock Backbreaker, before lifting him up and delivering the Stimagata!
Reiner is out, and "The Prophet" gets the three as the fans boo him!
Winner by Pinfall: Gabriel Moore
(00:12:43)
Moore looks into the camera and says, "Thy Lord's will be done!" He then poses smugly as the crowd boos, but makes a pretty hasty exit as Reiner begins to gain his composure. Blake Donovan says he doesn't really like "The Prophet's" message, but his methods are ones he can get behind, and he could see how a guy like this could walk out of "COMPLEX 1" with the gold.
MATCH FOUR
Standard Rules
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Sean “Thunder” Walker vs. “The Iconoclast” Shawn Walsh w/ Angelica Navarro
Referee: Quentin Butler
Shawn Walsh and Angelica Navarro made a pretty lude and suggestive entrance, as Walsh just oozes with rebellious swagger and doesn't seem to have a care in the world. He wants to see the world burn, and has no problem lighting the match. Sean "Thunder" Walker on the other hand had his eyes narrowed all the way down the ramp and was ready for battle. He would slap a few hands on the way down, but never took his eyes off of "The Iconoclast", and let him know what he was all about as they got into the ring. The laid back Quentin Butler put hands on both men's chests, trying to keep them separated before the bell, as Walker yelled out, "YOU WANT A WAR? LET'S FUCKIN' GO!"
The bell sounded a Walker shoots in hard and fast, and Walsh is smiling as he avoids it and prances around, mocking Walker. Walsh kind of poses, as Walker is quite a bit more muscular than him, and Walsh goads "Thunder" by saying, "Come on, Juicehead! Get the needle out of your ass and catch me!" Walker responds, yelling out, "FIGHT ME, LITTLE BITCH!" Walsh kind of grabs the ropes and pulls them, spinning, and then runs at Walker starts unloading with rapid fire kicks and punches, just wailing on him into the corner. Walker, though, drops low and grabs lifts him up, then slams him down with a Ron Simmons style Spinebuster that sends "The Iconoclast" rolling on the mat. Walker shoots down and grabs a front facelock before landing a series of knees to the top of his head and then lifts him up. "Thunder" tries for a Vertical Suplex, but Walsh floats over and lands behind him before hitting an INVERTED HURACANRANA! Walker lands right on his head! Walsh then springboards off the middle turnbuckle and catches Walker with a Cutter, but only a two count!
Walker rolls out of the ring, as he is dazed. Angelica gets in his face and mocks him, before slapping him across the face! Butler gives her a warning from the inside, as Walker is trying to regain the taste in his mouth. Walsh is up on the top turnbuckle and flies off with a Moonsault to the outside! Blake Donovan notes that both men seemed to take that move pretty badly, as Walsh hit his knee on the guardrail. Walsh then grabbed the ring steps and pulled them away from the apron. He grabs Walker by the hair and walks backwards up the steps. Walsh makes the throat slash sign to the crowd and then tries to lift Walsh into Piledriver position, prompting Jeff Davis yell out, "GOD NO!" Walker, though, manages to power out and hits Walsh with a HUGE backdrop off the steps, sending him hard to the floor! Angelica screams out like a banshee in protest! Walker turns the steps on the floor as Walsh is trying to recover. Walker then runs up the steps and flies off, and delivers a HIGH IMPACT LARIAT that flips "The Iconoclast" ass over tea kettle! The fans are chanting for Walker now!
Back in the ring, Walker delivers the Blue Thunder Bomb, but Walsh manages to kick out at two. Walker follows that up with a Sliding Lariat, but Walsh still manages to kick out, showing his grit and toughness. Walker calls for the end, and he picks up Walsh and lifts him onto his shoulders, looking for his Burning Hammer, but Walsh manages to flip onto his feet! Walker quickly tries for another Lariat, but Walsh ducks under grabs a hammerlock and then twists him, delivering a Lariat of his own! Walsh goes for the pinfall, but just a two! Walsh runs and climbs up the ropes and flies back wildly with a Twisting Senton to Walker's back, smashing him into the mat! Walsh is looking dazed, but he calling for end. Walsh gets on the middle turnbuckle and is motioning for Walker to get up. Walker stumbles up and "The Iconoclast" leaps off the buckles, grabbing him and trying for the Desecrator (Panama Sunrise)! NO! Walker shows his strength and will to fight, powering through and blocking it, capturing Walsh by the legs and delivering an Alabama Slam! Walsh hits hard and rolls to his feet into the corner! Walker follows up with a HARD Lariat in the corner! Walker pulls him out into a Vertical Suplex hold, spinning and drilling him to the mat with his Thunderstruck (Jackhammer) maneuver as Angelica yells and screams from the outside, pounding the mat in desperation! It's no use. Walker pulls him leg hard and that's enough for the three count!
Winner by Pinfall: Sean Walker
(00:13:30)
Walker poses on the buckles, flexing and yelling out as the fans stand and cheer for him. Jeff Davis comments on how hard fought that match was, but that Sean Walker's unbreakable spirit won out. Blake Donovan says that was enough to maybe change his prediction for the main event of "COMPLEX 1"... maybe. He says he's going to be honest, he has no idea how it's going to go, and he says everybody just needs to tune in and find out! The show then comes to a close.
