NWA Reign ~ "Great American Bash Tour" (IWTV)
June 11th, 2022 [Saturday] @ Kimmel Arena in Asheville, NC
2,899 Spectators
1. PAC vs. Kota Ibushi
>Winner: Ibushi (19:09) following an elevated sitout powerbomb
~ Ibushi pulls out his first victory in nearly two months but it was an absolute battle between these two. Following their draw in the Wahoo McDaniel Memorial Block and PAC’s victory at Night 1 of Coronation, this has become quite the rivalry.
2. Zack Sabre Jr. & Roderick Strong vs. Prince Devitt & Adam Cole
>Winner: Strong (13:22) following a capture suplex backbreaker on the knee on Cole
~ Strong finished this match with a great counter to a spinning heel kick from Cole. Sabre & Devitt were at each other’s throats all match, throwing just as many words as they did strikes.
3. Jay White vs. Adam Page
>Winner: White (22:17) following the SSS
~ This was another hard fought victory for this night as White sat exhausted next to Page after the bell rang. Page finally pulled himself to his knees and both men stared daggers through one another for several moments before White backed away on his knees and slid under the bottom rope, smirking back at Page.
~ Natalya Neidhart stood in front of a Great American Bash Tour 2022 backdrop and demanded a rematch with Shida based on her “inability to win last week’s match… without cheating”. Neidhart called out Shida for pulling her trunks as the referee counted to three and reiterated that “Hikaru couldn’t beat me on my worst day… straight up”. Neidhart tells Shida to “bring Shirai to watch your back… but bring your ass to the ring!”.
4. reDRagon vs. Hermanos Oscuros
>Winner: Fish (17:13) following a diving headbutt on Fenix
~ This was a fantastic match with action all over the ringside area before the end. However, immediately after pinning Fenix, Fish was attacked by Pentagon. With O’Reilly still feeling the effects of his ringside brawl with Pentagon, Fish found himself prone on the mat with Pentagon holding his left arm. Pentagon seemed to be moments away from breaking Bobby’s arm when Kyle tackled Pentagon from behind. Fenix pulled Pentagon out of the ring as O’Reilly tended to Fish.
5. NWA North Carolina Heavyweight Championship Match: Karl Anderson vs. Kazuchika Okada
>Winner: Anderson (24:27) following a DDT
~ 1st successful defense
~ This match was arguably the match of the night and after a tremendous battle, it ended with the appropriate suddenness of the DDT to a visceral response from the crowd. As both men lay on their backs in the ring, AJ Styles made his way to ringside in street clothes. The crowd seemed confused but Styles simply helped the Champion to his feet before asking for a microphone, which he used to ask for a Championship rematch from Clash of Champions. Anderson agreed to the match but surprisingly the biggest reaction was from Robert Roode, who felt as though Styles was “jumping the line” since he was guaranteed a NWA North Carolina Heavyweight Championship within 60 days of Clash of Champions. Roode had joined the commentary team before the match and demanded to be called Robert Roode, citing “Bobby” as a child’s name and he was obviously a man.
