SHOOTING STAR PRO-WRESTLING
PRESENTS
"STAR POWER"
Live from Korakuen Hall
Tokyo, Japan
10/29/2022
The show opens with "ARCADIA" by Jupiter playing over a film roll of different high spots from the various stars of Shooting Star Pro-Wrestling, ending with a silhouetted figure that appears to be Jushin Liger holding up a finger, with shot ascending into a brilliant burst that turns into the SSPW logo. We then head ringside, where we are greeted by our announce team. On play-by-play we have the smiling and enthusiastic Yuji Shindo, who is accompanied by the somewhat more stoic ring veteran Kotetsu Yamamoto on color commentary.
They welcome the fans before we head to the ring, where President Murakawa Masanori is standing in with other officials, and he welcomes with the fans with a smile on his face. He is proud to welcome to the ring the man who founded this great new promotion, Jushin "Thunder" Liger, who gets a huge ovation from this Tokyo crowd! Murakawa and Liger shake hands, and then Liger takes the microphone. Liger says that he is proud and humbled to be here, and he says tonight he will stand and battle with two of his best friends beside him, as he, the Great Sasuke, and Tiger Mask take on three men who have always been a pain in their ass... Taka Michinoku, Dick Togo, and THAT SON OF A BITCH SUPER DELFIN! The crowd cheers for Liger and his passion, but this leads to Taka Michinoku coming out from behind the curtain and he gets a mixed reaction. Taka is smirking like a complete asshole as he looks around the room.
Taka says that he's not surprised to see Liger out here congratulating himself, practically pleasuring himself on his own glory in front of all of these stupid fans, because he's biggest self important jack ass in all of wrestling! Taka says HE is the one who put Japanese wrestling on the map around the world, but somehow Jushin Liger gets all of the praise, all of the accolades, and all of the love from these pathetic fans. Taka says that he can't stand the sight of Liger enjoying the smell of his own shit any longer, and tonight, he and Kai En Tai will bring him to his knees!
With that, Dick Togo and Super Delfin come flying over the railing and into the ring and they attack Liger! Togo grabs Murakawa by the collar and pushes him into the corner before out runs Great Sasuke and Tiger Mask IV! Sasuke and Tiger Mask unload on Kai En Tai and send them flying out of the ring with punches and spin kicks as the fans go crazy! Taka and company are yelling profanities on the outside, but ultimately retreat. Taka says this isn't over!
We go back to the commentary team, who analyze the mayhem and then go over some of the matches coming up on the rest of the show. We have a big one for you, that's for sure. We then head to the ring where ring announcer Eiji Tosaka is standing in with senior official Ted Tanabe, and we are ready for our first contest of the evening!
MATCH ONE
STANDARD RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
El Samurai vs. Koji Kanemoto
Referee: Ted Tanabe
Kanemoto is a straight up prick. He would get the fans behind Samurai by paint brush slapping the back of his head, flicking him in the face with his boot and generally mocking him throughout. Samurai would fire up at about the five minute mark and send Kanemoto out of the ring with headscissors. Samurai would follow up with a rough Pescado to the floor, and then hit a Snap Suplex on the floor to deal some damage to Kanemoto. Back in the ring, Samurai would scoop up Koji, but Kanemoto would float over it and then gauge his eyes, following up with a Bridging Tiger Suplex to get the pinfall.
Winner by Pinfall: Koji Kanemoto
(00:08:23)
After the match, Kanemoto got on the microphone and said that all of these boys in the back are nothing more than his sons, trying to be him! He says they shamelesly emulate him and worship him, but he is willing to do what they will not and that's why he is going to be at the top of SSPW!
We go backstage, where interviewer Yumi Fukawa is standing in with women's wrestling legend Jaguar Yokota! Yumi says it is an honor to speak with her, and Jaguar acknowledges this with a straight face and a nod. Yumi asks how Jaguar feels about tonight's matches, and Jaguar says she is here to watch in the front row some of her greatest students do battle with honor. She said she looks forward to seeing gritty, hard competition, and to show that the women are the best in Japanese wrestling and all of wrestling today! Yumi says she is looking forward to seeing this as well, as her students Manami Toyota, Toshiyo Yamada, and Aja Kong will all be in action in the semi-main event, and then we head back to the ring for our next match.
MATCH TWO
TRIOS TAG TEAM RULES
One Gall, 20 Minute Time Limit
Etusko Mita, Mima Shimoda, and Takako Inoue vs. Dynamite Kansai, Kaoru Ito, and Yumiko Hotta
Referee: Mac Takeda
Referee Mac Takeda was very lax in this contest, which favored Mita, Shimoda, and Inoue, who along with Akira Hokuto in their corner from the feared group LCO. LCO would come to the ring wielding steel chairs, and would immediately attack Kansai, Ito, and Hotta as they tried to enter the ring and we had a wild brawl on our hands from the get go! This went all over ringside before they finally made their way in. Hokuto would take advantage of Takeda being distracted by the chaos and interfere multiple times, even hitting a Belly to Back Suplex on Hotta at one point! Kansai, Ito, and Hotta would show toughness, but the wild and hardcore antics of their opponents proved too much, and LCO would deliver a Double Spiked Piledriver on Hotta to get the pinfall.
Winners by Pinfall: Etsuko Mita, Mima Shimoda, and Takako Inoue
(00:12:10)
After the match, Akira Hokuto would get on the microphone and tell all of the bitches in the back that the wild dogs have taken over and it's kill or be killed in SSPW!
We go backstage where Yumi Fukawa has caught up with Jushin Liger, who is sitting in a chair holding an ice pack on his neck as his partners are standing with him. Fukawa asks if Liger will be 100 percent to compete tonight, and Liger says no fighter is ever 100 percent! He says his body may be hurting, but his will to kick the hell out of Kai En Tai is at ONE THOUSAND PERCENT, and he's ready to rip their heads off tonight! "Thunder" throws down the ice pack and storms out of the room as Sasuke and Tiger Mask follow, and then we head back to the ring.
MATCH THREE
TRIOS TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit
Ayumi Kurihara, Mariko Yoshida, and Yoshiko Tamura vs. Hiroyo Matsumoto, Kyoko Kimura, and Tomoka Nakagawa
Referee: Shiro Abe
This match started out competitive enough, and we really had a pretty straight laced affair for the first five minutes. Things began to break down, though, as Tamura would end up showing disrespect to Nakagawa, and this leads to things breaking down pretty quickly. Yoshida would loudly question Tamura as to her antics at one point, and this would lead Kurihara and Tamura to abandon "The Spider", leaving her opponents to deliver a Powerbomb/Double Flying Clothesline combo to finish her off for the three count.
Winners by Pinfall: Hiroyo Matsumoto, Kyoko Kimura, and Tomoka Nakagawa
(00:11:03)
After the match, Yoshida would get on the mic and call Tamura a coward, and say Kurihara is a weakling for following her! The fans would rally behind Yoshida as she left in pain and frustration.
Backstage once more, we have Yumi Fukawa standing with Aja Kong and Carlos Amano. Yumi says that she spoke with Jaguar Yokota earlier and she said she hoped that the women tonight would shine brightest and she looked forward to seeing them in action. Kong says that Yokota may have been a teacher, but she doesn't care what she says. Kong says she was forged in causing destruction with her partners in Gokuaku Domei, the fiercest gang in wrestling, and she doesn't care about anybody's honor. She says her and Carlos are out to bring pain tonight and to snap Toyota and Yamada in half! She says she loves nothing more than pounding everybody's sweetheart Toyota into dust, and tonight will be all pleasure once she gets her hands around her skinny little neck again!
We head back to the ring for our next contest.
MATCH FOUR
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Hayabusa & Jinsei Shinzaki vs. Gedo & Jado
Referee: Keigo Yoshino
Pretty exciting, if not a bit sloppy contest here between two solid tag teams. Gedo and Jado would try to keep Shinzaki isolated, putting a hurting on the bigger man the frequent tag outs and double teams. Hayabusa would eventually get the hot tag and do his thing. Hayabusa would over shoot an Asai Moonsault on the outside that looked pretty scary, taking her and Jado out of the match for a couple of minutes. Hayabusa would eventually manage to deliver a Firebird Splash to Jado to get the pinfall victory for his team, and the fans were satisfied with this.
Winners by Pinfall: Hayabusa & Jinsei Shinzaki
(00:09:45)
MATCH FIVE
STANDARD RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Ayako Hamada vs. Meiko Satomura
Referee: Shiro Abe
These two would initially show each other respect, but Hamada would get frustrated and start to cheat. This was a battle between two contrasting styles and philosophies, as Hamada represents the Arsion style, while Satomura is the protege of the wildly popular Chigusa Nagayo, and these camps are disparate in their thinking. Hamada considers herself a true warrior, while she considers those who follow the GAEA mindset to nothing more than phony wanna-be "idols", though Satomura has more than proven she is a serious competitor and that seemed to really gnaw at Hamada here. In the end, Satomura would deliver a Scorpion Kick to the nape of Hamada's neck to put her down for the three count.
Winner by Pinfall: Meiko Satomura
(00:13:56)
After the match, Satomura would offer to shake Hamada's hand, but Hamada would drop down and roll out of the ring, shaking her head and leaving. Satomura would look fairly annoyed by the disrespect before leaving.
We go backstage, where Yumi Fukawa is standing in with Yoshiko Tamura and Ayumi Kurihara. Fukawa asks why Tamura abandoned Yoshida out there, and Tamura laughs and says FUCK YOSHIDA! She says ever since they were in training, Yoshida has always thought she was better than everybody else and she was some kind of moral authority... well, how does it feel, Miss Superior!? She says Yoshida is nothing but Arsion bred trash who believes her own hype. She says Kyoko Inoue offered her the chance to join the NEO faction, but she was too afraid to join the ranks with her because she knew she would never be a great success, so she took the inferior road, the easy road, but that road ended tonight! She says she tried to offer the olive branch by teaming with her pathetic ass, but then she had the AUDACITY to question the true ACE of women's wrestling, and she got what was coming to her! And if steps out of line again, she's going to get mor-
Just then, MARIKO YOSHIDA hits the scene and she's lighting up Tamura with rapid fire fists to the body, and then a spinning back elbow! Kurihara tries to intervene, but Yoshida tackles her to the ground and is blasting her with right hands and you can hear the crowd is in an ovation in the background as they watch this! Chants of "YOSHIDA!" cant be heard as officials pull her away!
Yoshida yells to Tamura that SHE is the one who has something coming to her very soon!
Tamura is holding mouth, which is trickling blood, on the floor and she yells that Yoshida is going to pay for this!
We then head back to commentary, where Shindo and Yamamoto can't believe what they just saw! Yamamoto says that these two have something deep seeded, and he says the violence is only going to escalate from here!
MATCH SIX
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Masayuki Naruse & Minoru Tanaka vs. Shinjiro Otani & Tatsuhito Takaiwa
Referee: Keigo Yoshino
This is a very wild back and forth brawl of a match, as former RINGS ace Naruse teams with former BattlARTS stand out Tanaka to take on the tough as nails team of Otani and Takaiwa. Otani and Takaiwa are just plain mean and ruthless, as Takaiwa blasts his opponents with what seems like a hundred chops and brutal lariats, while Otani just kicks them across the face and blasts them in the face with closed fists. Yoshino tries to rein it in, but Otani and Takaiwa actually shove him away as they pound on Naruse in the corner, and Tanaka has had enough. Tanaka nearly knocks Takaiwa's lights out with a high roundhouse kick, and the fans audibly gasp at the impact. Tanaka is able to end this match in flashy fashion, floating over a Powerbomb attempt by Otani into a Sunset Flip which he transitions into a Cross Armbar for the submission victory. The fans loved that and chant for Tanaka!
Winners by Submission: Masayuki Naruse & Minoru Tanaka
(00:10:29)
MATCH SEVEN
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit
Aja Kong & Carlos Amano vs. Manami Toyota & Toshiyo Yamada
Referee: Mac Takeda
These ladies really put on a show, as they laid in everything in this match. Yamada and Amano had some very good ground back and forth exchanges that showed some of the best technical wrestling we saw all night, but also laid into each other and their opponents with wild kicks. Kong and Toyota always have great chemistry, as the beastly Kong put a pounding on Toyota and stretched her in ways that are hard to imagine the human anatomy can even go in, while Toyota shows amazing heart, speed, and agility. Toyota would hit an amazing Springboard Moonsault at one point to the outside to wipe out everyone in the match to get a big pop from the crowd. The end of the match saw everything break down into a wild scrum, as each woman was trying to hit a big move to lay their opponent out to get the win. Toyota would get Amano up for the Ocean Cyclone Suplex, but Kong would blast her in the face with the Uraken Spinning Backfist to break it up. Kong would lift up Toyota to Piledrive her, but Yamada would fly in and kick HER in the face to break that up! Yamada would land a series of kicks to Kong, trying to take down the beast, but Kong would light her up with a Lariat and try to cover, but the bell rang and we have a TIME LIMIT DRAW!
Time Limit Draw
(00:20:00
We have some post match shenanigans here, as Kong and Amano are still punching and stomping their opponents. Jaguar Yokota jumps the railing and she gets into the ring! She yells at them to stop! Amano gets up in Yokota's face, who she has no allegiance to, being a pupil of the vile Mayumi Ozaki, and she spits in her face and winds up at her! Kong grabs Amano's arm and stops her from striking Yokota, who can't believe this disrespect as the fans are booing like crazy but now cheering at Kong maybe defending her honor. Shindo can't believe Kong is showing such a warm heart...
OH NO! KONG BLASTS YOKOTA WITH A SPINNING BACKFIST! YOKOTA IS DOWN AND THE FANS ARE GOING CRAZY BOOING NOW!
Manami Toyota has hit the ring with a chair and she whacks Kong in the back of the head, sending her rolling out of the ring! Amano tries to clothesline Toyota but she ducks it and whacks Amano over the head, and she goes rolling out as well!
Kong and Amano retreat on the outside as Toyota holds Yokota on the mat, cradling her and damning Kong, yelling that she has gone too far this time! Kong looks a little shaken up as she sees the fire in Toyota's eyes, and Yamamoto surmises that maybe Kong is regretting her actions a bit now.
Backstage before the next match, Yumi Fukawa is standing in with Kai En Tai. She asks if they are worried their assault on Liger might backfire and cause him to be extra motivated tonight. Taka Michinoku scoffs and asks if she heard nothing he said earlier! He says it doesn't matter what Liger thinks! It doesn't matter what he wants to do! Taka says that HE is the icon of Japanese wrestling, plain and simple, and the proof is going to be in the pudding when he stomps a crater in Liger's ass in the middle of the ring tonight! Super Delfin then says that Liger called him a son of a bitch, but he's the moron who let his worst nightmare into his own promotion! What an idiot! Taka corrects him, though, saying that Liger is no idiot, he's just a hypocrite. He says he hired Kai En Tai for the same reason everybody has been riding their nuts for years, and that's because they are the best and everybody knows it and he wouldn't have one ass in the seats or a dime to his name without them, but tonight he's going to regret the day he ever laid eyes on them! He says he hopes Liger comes out and gives him his best, because he looks forward to showing everybody that he's no match for Taka Michinoku and the top group in professional wrestling today, KAI EN TAI!
We head to the ring for our main event.
MATCH EIGHT
TRIOS TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 30 Minute Time Limit
Dick Togo, Super Delfin, and Taka Michinoku vs. Great Sasuke, Jushin Liger, and Tiger Mask IV
Referee: Ted Tanabe
We got senior referee Ted Tanabe in here, and he's not looking to have any nonsense from these guys. He lays down the rules hard and checks them all for weapons before signaling for the bell. The match is pretty standard for the first seven minutes, as we see Liger come in and demand Taka, but ultimately get Dick Togo. Liger lays a whooping on Togo early, but Togo catches him with a low blow and then they triple team him and try to humiliate "Thunder" with poses and mockery. Great Sasuke gets the hot tag in and he lets everybody have it before delivering a Cartwheel Front Flip Plancha to wipe out his opponents on the floor. Tiger Mask flies off and wipes out pretty much everybody with a Front Flip Suicida after that. Things get a bit chaotic after that and Super Delfin delivers a Tornado DDT on Tiger Mask, followed by the Delfin Special pinning combo, but Liger hits a Running Palm Strike to wipe him out! Liger then runs and hits a Rolling Kick on Togo on the apron to take him out. Taka sends Sasuke into the crowd on the outside and then rushes up and springboards in. Taka attempts a Springboard Dropkick, but Liger side steps it and grabs him, looking for a Brainbuster, but Taka drops to a knee hits a low blow! Michinoku Driver! Taka hooks the leg deep and Tanabe turns from the chaos on the outside and counts to three! Taka gets the pinfall and the fans boo!
Winners by Pinfall: Dick Togo, Super Delfin, and Taka Michinoku
(00:23:18)
Liger is tended to by Great Sasuke and Tiger Mask after the match, but Liger ultimately shoves them away in frustration and grabs the microphone. He says he wants Taka back in the ring right now to settle this, and Taka shakes his head and says he's already proved he's better and everybody saw it! This leads Murakawa Masanori to make his way back out to the stage. The President says next month they will hold a show in this very building called "Big Star Battle", and there will be a 20 man battle royale to crown the first ever Superstar of Wrestling Champion! He says they will have their chance to get their hands on each other then, and he says the fans won't want to miss it, as they cheer!
