After an introduction for Styles, The Miz heads out, without the recently fired Kenny Bolin ...
After narrowly missing out on becoming the new OVW champion at Slugger Slam, AJ Styles is looking to stay in the title picture and get another shot. Last week, he made a challenge to Johnny Jeter for a match at Summer Scorcher that is expected to be answered here tonight. The Miz meanwhile is coming off not only a loss to Jeter last week, but during the match, he fired Kenny Bolin as a manager, clearly frustrated by recent losses and mounting problems. Tonight will test if Miz is better off without Bolin or not.
The match starts with a lock up that ends in a break. Miz calls on Styles to go again. They lock up a second time with Miz backing Styles up to the corner. After a break, Miz throws a chop at the chest. He lands another before sending Styles across with an Irish whip, only to have it get reversed. Styles heads in after as Miz back body drops him over the top rope, only to have Styles land on the apron. Miz turns and takes a forearm as Styles grabs the top rope and jumps up to springboard off but Miz hits it, knocking Styles off to land in the ring. Miz starts stomping away at Styles before bringing him up and tossing him through the ropes to the floor. Miz follows and grabs Styles to run him back first into the ring apron. He repeats again before grabbing him and tossing him back inside. Miz gets to the apron and decides to head to the top rope. Styles is up as Miz comes off with an axehandle and covers. The referee counts but Styles kicks out at 2. Miz brings Styles up and runs him face first into the top turnbuckle. He turns him and starts kicking away at the midsection. Miz then backs up and charges in but Styles gets out of the way. Miz hits the turnbuckle and turns, taking a back elbow. Styles steps past and jumps up to the middle rope, diving back and turning into a cross body block that takes Miz down to the mat into a cover as the referee counts but Miz kicks out at 2.
Styles gets up and grabs Miz, hammering him with forearms. Hold on though as from the back, Starmaker Bolin has arrived. He heads to ringside, acting like he's still managing Miz, even though he was fired last week. The distraction gives Miz the chance to hit Styles from behind. Miz then turns his attention to Bolin, yelling at him to get away. Bolin tries to reason with his now former client but Miz is having none of it. He points to the back, telling Bolin to go away. As Miz turns, Styles jumps back, catching him with a Pele kick. Styles then rolls out to the apron and waits on Miz to stand. He jumps up and springboards himself off the top rope nto the phenomenal forearm. Styles then stands and grabs Miz to pull him in. He lifts him up and steps over the shoulders, jumping forward to take out Miz with the Styles Clash. Styles then rolls him as the referee counts the 3.
AJ Styles defeats The Miz @ 5:02 via pinfall after the Styles Clash.
Styles will get his hand raised in victory here. Miz gets an unwanted assist from Kenny Bolin as he sends him off on his way. He wanted absolutely nothing to do with his former manager, even if it had the chance of helping him. Bolin may yet pursue getting his former client back to the fold of Bolin Services. Styles will wait to hear on a response tonight from Johnny Jeter on whether his challenge for a match at Summer Scorcher on Sunday at Six Flags has been accepted or not.

Heading to the ring, Jim Cornette is being joined by CM Punk and Paul Heyman ...
Jim Cornette: "We're back and joining me now is Paul Heyman, advocate for the OVW champion, CM Punk. This Sunday at Summer Scorcher, a big defense coming up against a man that has beat you before, that being Colt Cabana!"
The fans cheer as Heyman tries to encourage the fans to stop ...
CM Punk: "Let's get one thing clear to start. Colt Cabana is not on my level. Colt Cabana is a joke. He's a comedian. He doesn't belong in the ring with me, or anybody holding the OVW Title for that matter. He-"
Jim Cornette: "I hate to interrupt but I must remind everybody again that he did beat you."
The fans again cheer that ...
CM Punk: "You can say that once, twice, a dozen times, a hundred times, it won't change the point I'm trying to make. Colt Cabana only got to where he is in OVW because of me. Without me, he was nothing. He was toiling away doing whatever it was he was doing before arriving in OVW, which quite frankly was nothing of great importance. That was the real Colt Cabana. A wannabe, stuck in mediocrity. I'm the champion of the two of us. Can he beat me? Sure, but the title wasn't on the line. Do it again when it counts and then we can talk."
Jim Cornette: "And I'll assume that you agree with that?"
Paul Heyman: "Me? I'm not sure that it matters whether I agree or not. What matters is the truth, and in this case, CM Punk speaks it. You're talking about a man that does not drink, does not do drugs, does not smoke. This is a man that is free from American indulgence in its finest form. You can't say the same for Colt Cabana. If anything, he is the end product of such a system of decay. He is a man that doesn't deserve to be in the ring, possibly at all."
Music hits as the fans cheer, interrupting the interview ...
...
...
...
Boom Boom Colt Cabana is out, shaking hands with fans. He gets in the ring, joining the three of them ...
CM Punk: "Even the music sucks."
Colt Cabana: "Sorry but I'm not a teenage girl."
Jim Cornette: "Alright, well we can get to the theme off some other time. This Sunday, it's you, Colt Cabana, and CM Punk, for that title. You beat him before but fans want to know if you can do it again?"
Paul Heyman: "I'll answer that - no he can't."
Colt Cabana: "Actually Paul E, not only can I, but I will! The only reason that Punk even rose to become champion in the first place was because of me! I helped him to win Money in the Bank and get the contract that he used to steal that title away in the first place. And then, yes, as pointed out here several times, I did beat him at the Battlegrounds show last month at Six Flags. I-"
Paul Heyman: "Oh, please! Non-title! Let's just get that out of the way. That should be the first thing mentioned every time that comes up."
Colt Cabana: "Non-title, alright, but I still did it. And what that shows is that this Sunday, Summer Scorcher, I can do it again. I don't have to talk in hypotheticals because I've already done it so you know that I can do it again."
The fans cheer as Punk seems unimpressed ...
CM Punk: "Are you finished now? Look, how you've managed to survive Nigel McGuinness and Stu, I'll never know. You got a fluke win last week but tonight, handicap match, it won't be happening again! And not only will that not happen again, but you won't beat me again. At the end of the day, I'm a wrestler's wrestler. I'm a guy that other wrestlers pick as 'that guy' that they want to wrestle one day. You're a nobody that happens to be in the right place, at the right time. Sunday, it's the wrong time. And after that, do whatever it is you do, I don't care. You'll be history when it comes to OVW, and you can watch as I make history. What are we at here?"
Paul Heyman: "As champion? 109 days."
CM Punk: "Then I guess I have a long way to go but I intend on making Brock Lesnar's run as American champion look like 15 minutes of fame."
Heyman makes a face that isn't as sure of that ...
CM Punk: "And you, your 15 minutes are up in about, oh, a little over a half hour. And then come Sunday at Six Flags, everybody will know that Colt Cabana is nothing, and I'm the greatest wrestler in the world today!"
The fans boo that ...
Colt Cabana: "Well, look at that imaginary watch again. Does it have a second hand? Tick-tock-tick ... three seconds, Punk. 1, 2, 3. That's all it takes. I've done it before and Sunday, I do it again."
Jim Cornette: "Alright, it happens on Sunday. Colt Cabana and CM Punk, one on one, for the title. And still to come tonight, Colt has a handicap match with Nigel McGuinness & Stu Sanders in the TV main event. When we return, tag team action with Nick Dinsmore & Elijah Burke against Brent Albright & Kenny Omega - don't go away!"

Back from break and Michelle McCool is standing by ...
Michelle McCool: "Hey OVW fans, welcome back, I'm Michelle McCool, and with me now is Nigel McGuinness and Stu Sanders. Last week, you two couldn't get the job done with Colt Cabana in a triple threat match, but tonight, it's handicap match with both of you together."
Nigel McGuinness: "That's the idea, ain't it? Look, last week, I don't think there's any doubt out there that I should have beat Colt Cabana. I would have won had Stu here not been such a tosser-"
Stu Sanders: "You wanna go there again, huh?"
Nigel McGuinness: "Easy, mate, easy. Tonight, you have a chance to prove yourself again. Need I remind you what this is all about. We take out Cabana, and I get a shot at the OVW Title. A shot I so richly deserve. So see to it that you know your role tonight, and stand down for me to take out Cabana."
Michelle McCool: "It doesn't appear that you two are on the same page?"
Stu Sanders: "Probably because we're not! I'm done with this."
Sanders walks away ...
Nigel McGuinness: "He's just grumpy because he got chewed out last week. He'll be there tonight, and together, we're putting an end to Colt Cabana. After we do, I'll be getting the next shot at the title. Forget AJ Styles because the Age of McGuinness is upon us, and we're just getting started!"
Michelle McCool: "Alright, there you have it. We'll see what happens in the main event. Now, back to ringside."
----- ----- ----- ----- -----
With two singles matches set for Summer Scorcher on Sunday, fans get an early preview of them in this special tag team match. Elijah Burke will look to get revenge on Kenny Omega for an attack outside the ring that left him injured and Omega suspended for a month. Also last week, Brent Albright confronted Nick Dinsmore, vowing to break his arm with Dinsmore's partner in The Lords of The Ring, Rob Conway, out with an arm injury ahead of a potentially big opportunity for them at the Anniversary show.
Burke will start the match against Albright, although he wants Omega. He'll have to wait as they lock up with Burke taking Albright back to the corner and giving a clean break. He backs away as Albright heads out for them to lock up again. The second lock up sees Albright back Burke up to a corner as the referee calls for another break. Albright pretends to give one, only to try throwing a right hand that Burke blocks and fires back. Burke lands another and keeps going as he backs Albright out of the corner. He sends him off to the ropes, returning into a hiptoss that takes him down to the mat. Albright is up and gets his legs sweeped out as Burke covers and picks up a 2 count. Albright slides out to the floor to try and regroup early on. Scott Angel is telling him to get back in as Albright points at him, prompting Omega to hop down and stand in the way. Albright heads back in but calls on Omega, tagging him in. This gives Burke what he wants as Omega tries to stall on getting started. They lock up with Omega going behind into a rear waistlock. Burke is able to reverse around but ends up taking a back elbow to the jaw. Omega turns and grabs the arm, twisting it into a wringer. Burke tries to reverse it but instead decides to counter with a jab. Burke grabs Omega and runs him into the top turnbuckle, tagging Dinsmore into the match. Mr. Wrestling heads in and kicks Omega in the midsection.
Dinsmore grabs Omega and brings him out, sending him off to the ropes for a back body drop. Albright considers heading in but holds his ground. Omega is now the one rolling out to the floor. Angel is over, checking on him, yelling about Dinsmore cheating to no avail. Omega heads back in and heads over to tag Albright into the match again. Albright enters and locks up with Dinsmore, quickly going to a side headlock. Dinsmore counters as he sends Albright off to the ropes, returning into a shoulderblock that drops Albright to the mat. Dinsmore hits the ropes and criss crosses over Albright as he stays down. Albright is up but Dinsmore has stopped and hits a standing dropkick. Dinsmore covers as the referee counts but Albright kicks out at 2 and heads back to the floor. This appears to be a common theme for this team as they aren't interested in giving much away ahead of Summer Scorcher on Sunday. Which tag team will take this one? Stay tuned to find out ...

Nick Dinsmore & Elijah Burke vs Brent Albright & Kenny Omega continues ...
Back to the action and Burke is back in the ring. He has Albright in the corner, driving a shoulder into the midsection. He does it again before standing and sending him across with a hard Irish whip. Burke heads in after with a corner clothesline. He grabs Albright and walks him out, hooking him for a suplex and covering but only picking up a 2 count. As Burke stands, Angle gets his attention from ringside, allowing Albright to get up and hit him from behind. Albright hits a T-Bone suplex on Burke and goes over, tagging in Omega. He brings Burke up and flips him over to the mat with a snapmare. Omega then hits the ropes and jumps up to kick Burke in the back of the head as he's in the seated position. Omega covers as the referee counts but Burke kicks out at 2. Omega brings Burke up and scoops him up for a bodyslam. He hits the ropes and returns with a legdrop, covering again for another 2 count. Albright tags back in as he gets Burke and tosses him from behind with a German suplex. Albright then starts kicking away at the arm as he clearly has the Crowbar in mind. Burke gets up at the ropes as Albright sends him across and charges at him, hitting a running clothesline to take him down. Albright then brings Burke up and takes him to the corner with forearms. He backs up and charges in but ends up getting caught with a boot to the face. Burke then heads out and jumps, twisting into a back elbow.
Both wrestlers are down. Omega takes a tag as he gets in to cut off Burke but is too late as Dinsmore takes a hot tag. Dinsmore starts throwing rights at Omega. He takes him back to the ropes to send him across but Omega reverses. He tries a jumping knee strike but Dinsmore holds the ropes. As Omega lands, Dinsmore charges out with a clothesline. He brings Omega up and catches him with an inverted atomic drop and steps to the side for a Russian legsweep. Dinsmore covers but Omega kicks out at 2. He brings Omega up and sends him to the ropes for a drop down toehold. Dinsmore then heads outside and goes up to the top rope. Omega stands as Dinsmore comes off with a missile dropkick. He gets into another cover but this time, Albright is in to break it up before the 3. Burke is in and starts hammering on Albright with the referee wanting them out. He puts his focus on getting Burke out as Dinsmore grabs Albright. Meanwhile, Angel slides in the Squier's walking stick to Omega, hidden as he lay on the mat. Dinsmore goes back to grab Omega but is blasted with the walking stick. Omega slides it back out and pretends to be hurt as the referee seems confused. A groggy Omega is up and grabs Dinsmore, hitting the ropes and returning by jumping up to take him out with a Kotaro Krusher. Omega crawls into a cover as the referee counts with Albright in to cut off Burke as he gets the 3.
Brent Albright & Kenny Omega defeats Nick Dinsmore & Elijah Burke @ 12:03 (11:03 shown) when Omega pinned Dinsmore after the Kotaro Krusher, and use of Scott Angel's Squier's walking stick.
Albright & Omega will pick up the win in this one. Angel seems most excited of all as Burke gets in to check on Dinsmore. He questions the referee on use of a foreign object but the referee tells Burke he saw nothing. The referees will have to pay closer attention on Sunday when Burke wrestles Omega to make sure that Angel doesn't try anything like that again. Meanwhile that Squier's walking stick might have helped soften up Dinsmore ahead of the match with Albright, which probably works just fine for the TV champion.

Heading to the back, Michelle McCool is again standing by ...
Michelle McCool: "Welcome back OVW fans, I'm Michelle McCool, and joining me now is The Thrillseeker Johnny Jeter. Last week, AJ Styles challenged you to a match for Summer Scorcher."
Johnny Jeter: "He certainly did. And at first, I appreciated the offer but I have too much respect for AJ Styles to say yes and take him on in that ring. But then I thought about it. This is a big opportunity, not just for me, but for both of us. He wants another shot at the title, and if I can beat him, that suddenly puts me in the conversation for a shot at the title. That's a big change and so the more I thought about it, the more it became clear. Yes. I accept the challenge and I'll take on AJ Styles at Summer Scorcher, but be warned. I'm not coming to have an exhibition, AJ. I'm coming there to win. I'm coming to impress. I'm coming to put my name on the marquee. Johnny Jeter! And after Sunday, everybody will know just what The Thrillseeker is all about!"
Michelle McCool: "Alright, challenge accepted. Right now, let's go back to the ring for more action."
----- ----- ----- ----- -----
After winning a battle royal on last week's broadcast, Alexis Laree will now advance on to challenge Jillian Hall for the Women's Title on Summer Scorcher. Valentina was last eliminated, also overhearing Hall talk her down without Hall realizing it. Beth Phoenix and Trinity also continue to have a heated rivalry in recent weeks, including them eliminating each other in last week's battle royal, leaving them destined to settle their rivalry. Rounding out the teams are Gail Kim and Crystal Carmichael, who have had a few exchanges as well in the last couple months.
The match starts off with Kim in with Valentina. They go to lock up but Valentina kicks Kim in the midsection. A shot to the back follows as she backs her to the ropes. Valentina sends Kim across to the ropes, returning into a tilt-a-whirl that Kim counters with a headscissors takedown. As Valentina gets up, Kim hits a dropkick and covers but only gets a 2 count. Valentina rolls to the outside as Kim gets up and waits on her to get back in. The fans get on Valentina's case as Trinity calls on her to get back in and tag. When Valentina does so, Trinity clarifies that she meant Carmichael, not her. The tag is made as Carmichael enters and goes to lock up, wringing Kim's arm. Kim grabs the arm and reverses. She then brings her over and tags in Laree. She enters and kicks Carmichael's arm before taking over. Laree takes her back to the corner and lands a forearm. She then climbs up to the middle rope to start throwing rights but Carmichael is able to shove Laree off. As she lands, Carmichael gets in a high kick to the face. She quickly covers Laree as the referee counts but it is only a 2. Carmichael brings Laree up and hooks her, hitting a suplex. Trinity now tags in and immediately starts kicking Laree. She brings her over to the middle rope and starts choking her with it. Trinity then hits the ropes and returns for a leg guillotine but Laree moves. She quickly gets over to tag in Phoenix.
With Phoenix now legal, Trinity wastes little time in heading to the outside. Phoenix isn't waiting as she heads out after her. They circle the ring before Trinity rolls back in, catching Phoenix with an axehandle when she follows. Trinity then gets over and tags Valentina, telling her to handle this. Valentina doesn't appreciate the orders being thrown her way. Phoenix is up and tries to get at Trinity, allowing Valentina to hit her from behind. She goes to send Phoenix to the ropes but it gets reversed. Valentina returns into a clothesline that takes her down. Phoenix then grabs her and brings her to the corner, tagging in Kim. Entering the match again, Kim starts kicking away at the midsection. She then brings her out and hits a bodyslam. Kim heads into the ropes but Trinity pulls the top rope down and she falls to the outside. Kim is in trouble in this one as the opposition looks to capitalize. What's going to happen? Stay tuned to find out ...

Alexis Laree, Beth Phoenix & Gail Kim vs Valentina, Trinity & Crystal Carmichael continues ...
Back from the break and Kim is being worked over. Carmichael is in and choking her in the corner. She grabs Kim and ragdolls her out to take her to the mat. Carmichael gives the referee a 'talk to the hand' as she doesn't want to hear it, walking up and kicking Kim while she's down. She then sends Kim off to the ropes, returning into a clothesline. Trinity tags back in and grabs Kim, holding out the hand to taunt Phoenix with the possibility of a tag. Instead, she hits Kim and chops her back into the ropes. She then walks her out and hits a dropkick before covering and getting herself a 2 count. Trinity brings Kim up and takes her to the corner, tagging Valentina back in. She enters and starts landing shoulders to the midsection. Valentina brings Kim out and sends her off to the ropes for a clothesline. Kim ducks and hits the ropes, returning to catch Valentina with a spear. Kim starts crawling for the tag but Trinity enters and races across, hammering Phoenix to bring her in. The referee has to send her out as Trinity and Carmichael drag Kim back. Trinity then tags back in and brings Kim up. She sends her to the ropes and catches her returning with a drop down toe hold that leaves her over the middle rope. Trinity then hits the ropes and returns with a 212 kick and heads up to the top rope. A moonsault follows but Kim moves, leaving Trinity to hit the mat instead.
Trinity tags Carmichael, while across the way, Laree tags in. Carmichael throws a right that Laree blocks and hits back on. Laree turns and hits the ropes, returning with a clothesline to take Carmichael down. Valentina is back in and throws a right but Laree ducks it and catches her turning with a roundhouse kick. Carmichael hits Laree from behind takes her to the corner for an Irish whip across. She charges in after but Laree gets a rope assisted jump and a headscissors into a Lareecanrana. Laree then heads outside and as Carmichael gets up, dives off with a Thesz Press into a cover but Carmichael kicks out at 2. Laree grabs Carmichael and brings her over to tag Phoenix back in. Phoenix enters and sends Carmichael to the ropes, returning into a side suplex. She covers but Trinity is in to kick her and break it up at the 2 count. Laree is back in, and pretty soon, Kim and Valentina are as well. The referee is having a hard time keeping order in this one. Phoenix is hit from behind by Trinity as Carmichael bodyslams Phoenix and hits a senton. She covers as the referee turns to count but Phoenix gets the shoulder up before the 3. Laree takes Trinity out to the floor as Carmichael gets Phoenix up. Phoenix kicks Carmichael and lifts her up onto the shoulders. She then spins Carmichael into a Michinoku driver, dubbed the Beth Valley Driver. She covers and gets the 3 count for the win.
Alexis Laree, Beth Phoenix & Gail Kim defeat Valentina, Trinity & Crystal Carmichael @ 12:04 (11:04 shown) when Phoenix pinned Carmichael after the Beth Valley Driver.
Phoenix will stand and get her hand raised in victory, looking down at Trinity. Laree and Kim are back in to celebrate the win. Laree will challenge Jillian Hall for the Women's Title on Sunday at Six Flags in a match that could greatly shake up the women's division here in Ohio Valley Wrestling. Phoenix meanwhile will continue to look to get her hands on Trinity, going back to when Trinity was brought in a guest referee for a title match and cost Phoenix the chance to win. It won't be long until those two are sharing the ring, one on one.

Right now, we still have tonight's TV main event to get through as we send it to the ring and Dean Hill with the introductions ..."
With the biggest match of his career coming up on Sunday, an OVW Title match against CM Punk at Summer Scorcher, Colt Cabana has his back against the wall tonight. After narrowly surviving a triple threat match last week when Nigel McGuinness and Stu Sanders had a falling out, now Cabana has a more serious problem with a handicap match against McGuinness & Sanders, meaning that they are working towards the same win, as opposed to separately. Punk has been trying to wear Cabana down and this may just do the trick.
Cabana starts the match against McGuinness. They lock up with Cabana going around to take the back. McGuinness feels around before hitting the arm to break and going to an arm wringer. Cabana does a roll through to reverse it but McGuinness steps over the arms and flips Cabana down to the mat. A legdrop to the arm follows as McGuinness stands and grabs Cabana, taking him to the corner. Sanders tags in and takes over as together, they send Cabana to the ropes for a double clothesline. He ducks it and catches McGuinness with a finger poke when he turns. Sanders throws a right that gets ducked as Cabana shoves him into McGuiinness. A schoolboy follows on Sanders as the referee counts but it's only a 2 count. Back up, Cabana takes Sanders over with an arm drag takedown. An arm bar follows as Sanders stands them and backs Cabana to the corner. The referee calls for a break after a 5 count. Cabana gives it as Sanders lands a forearm. Sanders sends Cabana across with a hard Irish whip. He charges in but Cabana gets out of the way. Sanders hits the corner and turns into jabs. Cabana then flips him over with a snapmare. He hits the ropes but McGuinness hits him from the apron. Sanders is up and as Cabana stumbles back, he lifts him up and drops him throat first over the top rope. The referee warns him but Sanders brushes that off and covers, picking up a 2 count.
McGuinness tags back in as he grabs the arm of Cabana and pulls him in, going shoulder to shoulder. He then yanks at it, trying to take it out of the socket. McGuinness soon follows that up with a headbutt. He then grabs the arm into a hammerlock and a kneeling facebuster. A hard clothesline follows as he covers but Cabana kicks out at 2. Sanders tags in as he grabs Cabana and runs him to the corner. He turns him and starts hitting forearms. He grabs Cabana and brings him out to lift him onto the shoulders. Cabana counters by dropping behind and running Sanders into the ropes for a go behind.
